Optimal Product Usability Suite (OPUS)
SOFTWARE PLATFORM
Optimal Product Usability Suite (OPUS) is Emergo by UL’s cloud-based human factors engineering (HFE) platform that provides training, tools, templates, and regulatory guidance to users.
My role in this project has been contributing to a significant portion of the UI design and development on the platform. Specifically, I worked on the design and implementation of the training, tools, and markeplace pages. I work alongside stakeholders and developers and address any QA issues or feedback from our customers as well.
Since the launch of OPUS in March 2022, the platform has garnered over 300 company accounts and over 730 individual user account sign ups. OPUS was also a 2022 Top 100 Finalist for Chicago Innovation Awards People’s Choice Award.

KEY OPUS SCREENS
With OPUS, users can walk through all steps of the HFE process for their projects. Project Plans enables them to manage all tasks and deliverables related to their project as well. Users can visit the Trainings, Documents, and Tools pages to purchase other helpful resources.
In my role as a designer for OPUS, I also routinely contribute to and manage our design system so that all components are consistent across the platform.
Tool Feature
OPUS TOUCH TARGET TOOL
Touch target recommendations help designers determine the appropriate size and padding for interactive elements on a screen. I was responsible for the research and design behind the OPUS Touch Target Tool. This tool allows users to input their screen size and resolution to receive a minimum touch target size based on a selected HFE standard. Users can then download a template with their custom touch target size to lay over their project screen when designing.
